Healing Touch is a hands on complementary (or integrative) energy therapy that can be used in conjunction with traditional therapies or as a stand-alone treatment.
Healing Touch is an energy-based therapy developed by Janet Mentgen, RN., B.S.N., in the late 1980’s. It is a nursing continuing education multi-level program which is open to non-nurses as well. More than 86,000 students have taken classes worldwide. The program moves from student to advanced practitioner. Certification includes a minimum of a year long mentorship, treatment write ups, further independent study, experiencing other complimentary modalities and a case study submitted to a board. HT’s rigorous certification program is widely respected and increasingly accepted, not only in the United States, but in many countries around the globe. It is considered one of the leading energy medicine programs in the world.
Theory behind Healing Touch:
We are made up of an energy field and energy centers (Chakras) that record and store all of our life experiences. As these accumulate, they eventually cause blockage and disruption in our system, leading to physical and emotional illness and dysfunction.
A person’s health and quality of life is affected by the health and quality of their energy system. The energy system, in turn, is influenced by the environment, thoughts, emotions and actions of self and others.
The Healing Touch philosophy puts forward that healing can come before understanding. It isn’t necessary to have a full understand of what has caused your blocks. Unblocking your energy field allows you to put your energy into living.
Healing Touch is a relaxing, nurturing energy therapy using light or near-body touch to help clear, balance and energize the human energy system, thus promoting healing for the mind, body and/or spirit.
